in wonderland

I don't know if you can believe it, but these are actually different pants than the last post.

buffalo

It's been a while... Hopefully I will be back on board with blogging now. And yes, I know, my neck is freakishly long.

marching on...

It's SO cold in Pittsburgh that I haven't made the effort to go outside and do a photo shoot of my Christmas loot yet. I'm also going through sort of a hard time, so sorry for the scarcity of posts.

For those that didn't like the shoes in the last post, you might think differently if you actually see them in the McQueen runway photos. Surprisingly they look quite good with the different looks.

Reactions?

Raquel Zimmermann, snakes and one pair of killer platforms - the season’s most inventive campaign has arrived courtesy of Nick Knight and Alexander McQueen. Do you love it?

I don't know how I feel about the shoes.

Seriously In Love With Balenciaga!

I first fell in love with fashion when I fell in love with Balenciaga. My favourite spring collection is SS 2007 and my favourite fall in FW 2008. However, this pre-fall 2010 collection really blew me away. There is absolutely not a SINGLE look I do not like in the collection. The yellow is just stunning (I do have a soft spot for yellow though). I like the use of rich muted tones too.

Oddly enough, in my History of Clothing class this semester, I'm currently studying the Cavalier Period. There are blatant aspects that are pulled from the Cavalier Period in this collection... Like the gauntlet gloves and "rounded" look of the women (especially in their shoulders), and even the "high-er" looking waist. All in all it is still very much in the style of Balenciaga: a shocking look mixed with the classic look of the house.

There is really just so much I could write about this collection... but I'll spare you.

Decadent Spring

I'm very excited for this:

Zac Posen for Target

Zac Posen for Target. Finally, another designer collaboration for Target! Zac Posen is really sicking to the most current runway look: lolita. I really like some of the softer outfits-- especially the dresses. The gold is certainly a nice touch to the collection. Surprisingly, it doesn't overwhelm. My biggest issue with this collection is the construction. Even though I haven't seen the clothes in person yet, I always find that all design collaborations with Target end up feeling and looking super cheap. Sigh. The concept is always much cooler than the execution. And damn those photographers for making me want the clothes in the photos and then being disappointed in the store.

The Visitors

I know I've been a bad blogger. I haven't updated in 6 days! I got back from CZ on the 9th and waited in the airport for almost 2 hours for my bag. No bag. They lost it. Luckily I got it back on the eve of the 13th. Unluckily my shampoo exploded. Anyway, I just finished my first week of spring classes and I already feel the crunch of school. I'm working on internship applications and hoping to graduate a semester early (next December!), so I really have to be working hard now.

On another note, I've been meaning to post this editorial for a while because it's just so structurally impressive. Also, for some reason the photo with the model in the black catsuit with brass buttons on it reminds me of the princess from the original pink panther. Haha, enjoy!
