A Trip to Olomouc, Czech Republic
Yesterday I traveled to Olomouc, CZ which is really just 20 minutes away from where I am staying. It's in the eastern part of Czech Republic, Moravia. I don't know if you know anything about Prague, but one of the things it is famous for is its atronomical clock. Olomouc has one too (below)! Olomouc is also famous for its fountains... which I've posted a few photos of too. :) Today I went to a swine and cattle farm-- which I will post photos of later. Sorry if my posts are not frequent here but I didn't bring my computer along.

A Christmas (Eve) Story

We celebrated Christmas last night. As you can see the tree was lit for the occasion. I actually went to church this year (surprise! because I'm not very religious). It was actually quit charming because I went to Sleepy Hollow (yes, the place where the legend of sleepy hollow took place) to a 17th century church that is still in its original state. It had no electricity-- therefore there were candles and no heat! (It was cold, but there was an organ an hot apple cider which made up for it).
My Christmas Eve outfit was pretty simple and I didn't post any good photos of it for some reason. I don't know why, haha, but I think you get the point. (Also, ignore my hair).
We have a strange Christmas tradition where we hide a pickle (ornament) in the tree, and the first person to find it gets an extra present. My brother found the pickle, but was kind enough to share the loot with me. :) I got some beautiful Christmas presents that I'm going to have to blog about some time soon. Tonight is my last night in NY before I got to Europe.
What are your strange holiday traditions?

D.I.Y. bona drag bondage
I feel like EVERY fashion blogger has posted something about the bona drag-like necklace my Manu. So instead of blogging about it right away, I decided to do a little DIY. Here is the original (retailing at $200):

I decided to do mine in black with gold rings. I think it's more suited for my wardrobe and I'm quite satisfied with it. I'll post better pictures when it's not 2:30 am and I'm up because I felt the urge to finish this necklace! Here is my creation:

As Tammy pointed out, I forgot to mention what materials the necklace was made of! It's simple: black electrical tape (you can literally find it in a rainbow of colours at most any hardware store) wrapped around large paper clips. I connected some of the paperclips together with gold jump rings that you can purchase at a local crafts store or on artbeads.com.

ribbon, bows, and wrapping

Above is my newest jewelry creation. Although it may look like a necklace, it's actually a bracelet that ties with a red ribbon and is adorned with red coral. :) I hope that someone will be very happy this year, but you never know with your own designs and people's taste!
Below is more of a personal part of the post, so if you don't fancy reading such stuff, this is the end of the post for you!
Holidays are always a big deal at my house. It's probably because with 4 siblings on my mom's side and 5 on my dad's, I have an overwhelming amount of family. Out Thanksgiving usually consists of 30 people. However tempting turkey and pumpkin pie are, nothing really compares to our Christmas celebration. Christmas usually consists of a few days of family celebrations-- but this year, we decided to double the fun. Part of my dad's family came from the west coast and Virgina for 3 or 4 days, and left just this Monday. While they were here we did our own few days of Christmas celebrations. Last night I celebrated with friends, and tonight we all go over to my cousin's house to have a chili cook-off. (Complete with prizes). Then off we go to a friends party. Next on the menu are both Christmas Eve and Christmas day celebrations. Every year we do a secret santa on Christmas day-- I can't wait!
On the 26th I fly to Czech Republic to see my boyfriend, his family, and friends. I'm VERY excited and have already started wrapping Christmas presents for them.
Anyway, happy holidays to you all!

dreaming cutouts
Just in case my latest posts haven't satisfied your show cravings, maybe these metallic cutouts by Nicholas Kirkwood will. The good news? These are actually being sold in Browns right now. The bad news? They're £995.00. I know, it hurts.

flying away on a black feather
Roksanda Ilincic's Spring RTW 2010 collection is breath taking. But instead of posting the collection here, I decided to show you the stunning shoes that were worn at the show. While the shoes are very structured.. in almost a cold way, they mix warm metallic and a soft sparkle along with some feathers to really soften the look. Simply stunning. If only I could get my hands on ANYTHING from this collection.

The metallics really look good with every skin tone. Oh yeah, I'm back in NY. I did some Christmas present shopping (for myself, lol) at Century 21. I can't WAIT to show you all what I got!
On another note, I have a pair of shoes in a similar style to those above that I'm looking to sell, HERE. They're a size 9 US. Let my know if you're interested by emailing me at christinaooi@gmail.com. I have more photos and information about the shoes. Happy Holidays.

Zara December 2009 Look Book
I really like this collection. It's a softer and more classic take on what we've been seeing in street style lately. Sigh. If only I had oogles of money. Haha
