mouse ears + outfit

So change of plans: I'm going to be a mouse not a bunny for Halloween. Big change, I know. As you can see, I started the ears with pipe cleaners and a headband. Tell me if you want a tutorial for the ears. I'm not going to post my whole outfit today... just the bottom layer because I wasn't satisfied with any of the photos. Oh well.

spidy sense

I love these. They're just in time for Halloween, but they also would be great at any time of they year. I can't decide what necklace to get. I like how one of them is asymmetrical but I feel like the webs are not large enough... So maybe I'll get the bib one. Oh yeah! They're like $35 from Know Label. The ring is around $25. Which necklace do you like the best? ...if you like them at all.

80s vintage deserves a poloaroid

I originally bought this dress (off of ebay of course) as part of my Halloween costume. It came in the mail about 5 days ago but I've just been TOO busy to try it on, let alone take it out of its wrapping. It's 1980s vintage, and yes, it had shoulder pads, glitter, and that faint musty smell. Needless to say I fell in love. I'm going to be a black bunny, but I still have to make the ears... which will hopefully be black lace and wire if I ever get to a craft store. Side note: I hate how girls usually go one of two ways for Halloween: slutty or silly. I really don't want to show a lot of skin on Halloween, but I still want my costume to be cool, fun, and not retarded. So obviously shoulder pads were the right choice... even if they are a little silly. Btw, I love my tripod.

The Mattress Factory

So here are some of the photos from the museum that I went to on Thursday. I have some video you should check out too... but it was shot from my iPhone so don't expect anything in HD. Haha. Anyway, photos from New York and Washington DC (that's where I was yesterday) soon! Oh, and hopefully some more outfit posts soon too, but I have a midterm on Monday that I really need to study for. Oh! But I have some more news, I'm going to New York for Thanksgiving so I'll probably have more photos then, AND I'm going to the Czech Republic the day after Christmas (again, haha)!! (So excited!!!!!!) So I'll have a lot of fun stuff to blog about in the future... I just have to get through class, homework, midterms and finals. Ugh.

tripod

Hooray! I finally got a tripod. Too bad there isn't really a good place to shoot photos in my room... it's kind of awkwardly shaped. I'll take the slightly disturbing pig-head painting down before I shoot next time. :P I still have to post New York photos along with a bunch of video I shot (with my phone... haha) today while on a trip to a museum today.

dresses of my past

I just brought a whole bunch of dresses back from NY that I've worn for various occasions in the past. These are just a few of them that I plan to sell.

1 - Jessica McClintock Black Corset Dress-- I wore this to my first prom. It's in pristine condition seeing that it's only ever been worn for several hours. If you're interested it's currently listed on eBay here.
2 - Betsey Johnson Floral Dress -- I wore this... I don't even remember... but I think it was for 4 hours. Haha. I'll be listing it soon. :)
3 - Ruby Rox Checker Dress -- another few hour stint. I know it's sinful. But I wore it with tights that matched the flower. On sale here.
4 - XOXO Black Floral Dress -- I NEVER wore this dress. What is wrong with me??

DIY: Vintage Chandelier Necklace

Yep, that's right guys! I actually DID it! I finished a DIY project. (applause) So I found out why the necklace probably costs as much as it does. It took me freaking AGES to make this. I'm talking like 3 hours of bending over my kitchen table labouring away. I now have felt the pain of the 5 year old Chinese kids that probably work in sweatshops for Free People.

So here is the ridiculous $168 necklace from Free People versus my $45-ish necklace.

Above you can see the stuff I used although I swapped out the gold wire for some other stuff because it kept on breaking my beautiful Swarovski beads (which are actually chandelier parts). Thank god I ordered double the amount I needed! Right, so I learned 2 lessons: sweat shops are very bad, stores earn a butt-load of $$$. Oh, and I'm so excited to show you guy all my shopping damage! But now I have to go to sleep because I have an 8:20 AM flight to catch. Ugh.

bleaching brows

Whilst bleached out hair seems to be a popular topic on my blog lately, what is with the bleached brows that have taken the catwalks by storm? I can't tell if I love them of hate them. There is something so modern about it, yet so antique-- think Mona Lisa, probably the most famous brow-less "woman". As for bleaching my hair, I really don't think I have the guts. I decided to give a virtual platinum blond me a shot, and I don't know if I got scared by the hair styles I found, the way the hair looks fake, or the colour, but I got scared. The first photo looks like I walked out of a horrible yearbook mistake from the 80's/90's. Oh god...

proof that I am the Queen of Mayhem

Clearly I'm obsessed with blogging because as soon as the mirror broke, I ran to get my camera so I could share this horrific event with you guys.

Today I was cleaning. Wow. Right, so beside the fact that me cleaning is epic, with me, mayhem ensues. So I was vacuuming my carpet and floor and I had finished, so I went to unplug the power cord. Then, somehow, I don't even remember how, I saw my full length mirror falling in slow motion. Literally, S L O W M O T I O N. That's right, so slow that I could have let go of the vacuum cleaner and stopped it. But instead I watched it crash to the floor (aka newly clean rug) and shatter into 100,000,000 pieces. I don't even think that's an exaggeration.

So now, I have a newly cleaned now scattered with shards of glass floor, and no mirror. Mayhem-- and I'm it's center. So there you have it, proof that I didn't just choose my blog name cause it "sounded cool"

on the DIY shelf

I feel like I'm always saying "oh I could do that, and it would be 100 times cheaper". And out pops this DIY project that either fails or never gets finish. I know, it's sad. But THIS time (knock on wood), I'm absolutely determined to finish at least 2 out of the 3 DIY projects I'm about to unveil for you guys.

Exhibit A: I was browsing the rediculously espensive Free People site and found this $168 necklace I "needed". I ordered supplies from bead stores, chandelier part stores, etc... but I shipped them to NY and not to Pittsburgh. Damn. So when I go home to NY in a week, I will (hopefully) make this necklace. :)
Exhibit B: These are awesome. I don't have $99.00. So I ordered fabric swatches yesterday...
Exhibit C: Zimmerman doesn't ship to the USA... Besides, if I don't have $99, then I certainly don't have $439. SO I cut up some fabric yesterday but have yet to pull out my sewing machine. Sigh.

Am I being over ambitious? Probably. Vote on which 2 DIYs I should make! (Although I think I've already decided). Haha, I know, I'm useless. Oh yeah, and many, many, MANY thanks to all of those bloggers that commented on my last post. Love you guys. :)

platinum blonde jealousy

Sources: JAK & JIL BLOG, Stil in Berlin

I've never dyed my hair, put highlights/lowlights in, or used non-permanent dye. Despite the fact I'm trying to grow it out and I've suffered, and continue to suffer through that awkward middle phase for 6 months now, I have this itch to cut my hair real short and completely bleach my dark locks into a platinum blonde. Scary-- I know. It's just such a chic look, especially with globs of black fabric hanging off your body.

How's THAT for an Asian with platinum blond hair? Model Kim Daul Source.

If the dark hair wasn't enough to stop me, the fact I'm half Asian and therefore a have a bit darker skin is another factor. Also, what do you do with your eyebrows? Bleach them too?? To do it, or not to do it? I need your help!!

very black + blue

sweater express - v-neck top forever 21 - acid wash jeans H&M - necklace urban outfitters - flats rocket dog

Yes, that's right, you get a myspace-esque photos of me. I'm lame, I know. But yeah, it was actually above 50-something degrees out today so I dared to wear a three quarters length sweater... but I still froze my ass of. Whatever. I'm over it now. These are the waesome $40 jeans I've been talking about (for way too long). I haven't taken them off since I bought them and I'm so tempted to go buy another pair! I must practice restraint... Oh, and this was the last of the Urban Outfitters necklace purchases. Next week I'm going to post a necklace that I'm making. Details later...

Oh yeah, new ebay listing for some pumps, here.
