Lovelies...

More Esty, this time brought to you by Ferociter.

First up, is an asymmetrical lion necklace. Love it. Lions and tigers and (not bears) are sooooo in this coming fall.

Next... skull and heart bolo necklace. Super chic and adjustable. Not too sweet and not too sour.

Awesome and affordable!

Esty Needs

Who wouldn't want this sea creature dangling from their neck?

For only $18, it's possibly too cute to be true. Watch out Ariel.

Get it at bombalurina.

Stab me.

This knife holder is a joke, yes. It makes us laugh in the same way that a Tom and Jerry cartoon cracks us up. But go beyond the immediate visual impact (if you can) and you find a well thought out and practical object.

The super-sharp, Molybdenum and Vanadium stainless steel knives are high-quality and keep their edge superlatively. The knives are protected from accidental slicing by plastic sleeves, and are held in place by magnets to avoid unintended ejection. Small plastic suckers on the base of the holder provide an added layer of safety.

Comes with bread knife, carver/slicer. chef's knife, utility knife, paring knife. A conversation piece if there ever was one.

Get it.

Sinful

I LOVE these plates. They are delicate, yet not so innocent, for they have the seven deadly sins scribed on them.

Delicious and decadent dining for seven, no more.

Pick them up at Coco de Mer.

Bjørg

Fairytales come true with Bjørg Jewelery. The 2009 collection is a stunning mix of the natural, vintage and contemporary. The pieces look antique, yet modern enough for daily use.

Totally amazing. I want it all!

The Swimming Pool

Swimming Pool by Leandro Erlich.

Look pretty cool, huh? This "swimming pool" (optical illusion) can be found at the P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center in New York.

Erlich has constructed a full-size pool, complete with all its trappings, including a deck and a ladder. When approached from the first floor, visitors are confronted with a surreal scene: people, fully clothed, can be seen standing, walking, and breathing beneath the surface of the water.

It is only when visitors enter the Duplex gallery from the basement that they recognize that the pool is empty, its construction a visual trick fashioned by the artist.

A large, continuous piece of acrylic spans the pool and suspends water above it, creating the illusion of a standard swimming pool that is both disorienting and humorous.

Umbrellas... for your shoes!

At first glance I thought, what a cool shape for a rain boot. But at further examination, I realized that Shuellas are essentially umbrellas for your shoes.

Cool and functional! The fold up into a small enough bag for a purse, and are available in a plethora of colours: pink, black, green, etc.

Get them here.

Vintage Vogue

Since fur is in style... here's a vintage Vogue cover from 1927.

Designed/painted by George Plank, it is one of his simplest and most striking images: a red helmet of a hat peeping out from a dense mass of fur.

Delicious.

Comme des Garcons Spring 2009.

AMAZING. INLOVEOMG.

I love it. The hair against the black.

Big, weird, structured, feathers, geometric!

Avant-garde, and futuristic, with a Louis XIV twist. Black black black.

Honestly, it's too good to be true.

Bling-Bling Art Deco Style

Super-duper-amazing art deco and avant-garde jewelry by Jean Després.

Jean Després, bague, 1937
Platine, or, diamants, aigue-marine
Musée des Arts décoratifs, Paris
Some of his work is on
exhibition in Les Arts Décoratifs from 19/03/2009 to 12/07/2009.

The exhibition is both a celebration of Art Deco jewellery and of the work of the jeweller and precious metalsmith Jean Després (1889-1980). 180 of this major yet little-known artist’s works, inspired by Cubism and machinery, are being shown together for the first time, alongside works by the great names of French jewellery in the 1930s: Jean Fouquet, Gérard Sandoz, Raymond Templier (all three members of the Union des Artistes Modernes), and also by architects (Robert Mallet Stevens), interior designers, (Jean Dunand) and silversmiths (Jean Puiforcat), all illustrating the formidable attraction jewellery exercised over the artists of the period.

Picture Me

Ole Schell follows model Sara Ziff for several years documenting her rise from a fresh face to one that adorns billboards and magazines around the world. In the process, Ole and Sara go behind the scenes and chronicle the glitzy world of high fashion modeling, from photo shoots with celebrated photographers to runway shows in New York, Milan, and Paris. This intimate account features in-depth interviews with noted photographers and designers, but also relies on footage shot by the models themselves, giving voice to those who are often seen, but rarely heard.

With appearances by Gilles Bensimon, Karl Lagerfeld, Nicole Miller and more.

Premiers tomorrow, Monday the 6th in NYC.

VPL

VP's spring 09 collection is just TOO hot.

The garments look light, yet structured. The soft pastels of the pallet are mixed with strong geometric shape to challenge femininity with a hint of flirty and fun masculinity.

Loving it!

Take a look at the rest of the collection on vplnyc.com.

More Tape x

So many cool things today!

Little Red...

I thought this was SO cute!

A New Love

It appears as if I have found a new blog to love... Which, all together, is not that hard since there are SO many fashion blogs out there on the web.

So why does JAK & JIL catch my eye? The images a so fresh and original!! It's not just another street style blog. It has quality like The Sartorialist (especially in the photos), interesting text, and well, it's just rad. The Sartorialist 2.0... maybe. But I think it's in a catagory of its own!

Oh yeah guys! Note the new blog colours. I decided to lighten up for spring. ;)
