fish food

Tired of taking care of that fish tank mess? Want a herb garden that you can cook with? Short on space?

Mathieu Lehanneur (who, by the way, is an amazing designer), designed a system called "Local River," inspired by the Locavore movement that would feed and entertain.

"This DIY fish-farm-cum-kitchen-garden is based on the principle of aquaponics coupled with the exchange and interdependence of two living organisms - plants and fish. The plants extract nutrients from the nitrate-rich dejecta of the fish. In doing so they act as a natural filter that purifies the water and maintains a vital balance for the eco-system in which the fish live."

Sweet!

There has been another take on this type of fish tank called "Floating Garden"... the main selling point being a clean tank.
